Dr. Colette Amit is the Executive Director of PhysicalOne, a forward-thinking outpatient physical therapy practice with locations in Plantation and Tamarac, Florida. Originally from Israel, she relocated to South Florida in 1990 and has since built an impressive career grounded in clinical excellence, innovation, and community leadership.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Tel Aviv University, followed by a Master’s in Health Services Administration from Barry University in Miami. In 2019, Dr. Amit expanded her clinical expertise by earning her Doctorate in Physical Therapy through Evidence in Motion (EIM).
Dr. Amit brings a diverse and extensive clinical background that spans acute care hospitals, rehabilitation centers, nursing homes, home health, and outpatient clinics. Prior to founding PhysicalOne in 2005, she served as a tenured faculty member at the Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Miami Dade College.
A passionate advocate for her profession, Dr. Amit has been an active member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for over 30 years and currently serves as a delegate for the Southeastern District of the Florida Physical Therapy Association (FPTA). She is also the creator of the House of Health™, a recovery framework built on four core pillars of wellness. Her recently published book, Feeling Good Again: How to Build Your House of Health, offers evidence-based, holistic strategies for managing pain, restoring function, and empowering individuals throughout their recovery journey.
In recognition of her leadership and contributions, Dr. Amit was honored by the City of Tamarac with the May Jewish American Heritage Month Proclamation Award. In 2025, she was also named a recipient of the South Florida Business & Wealth Prestigious Women Award, celebrating her passion and commitment as one of South Florida’s most inspiring women.
Deeply engaged in her local community, Dr. Amit is an active member of the Sunrise, Plantation, and Tamarac Chambers of Commerce, as well as the American Association of Business Networking. She frequently shares her expertise through speaking engagements at both local and national events, where she continues to promote innovative and practical approaches to physical therapy and wellness.
At home in Plantation, Florida, Dr. Amit enjoys a full and joyful life with her family. She loves dancing, reading, camping, and cooking for both her loved ones and her team. A dedicated long-distance runner, she regularly competes in half-marathons, bringing the same passion and endurance to her personal life that she brings to her professional mission.
